If you are like so many, you have misplaced your keys, smartphone or some other item which is important and are looking for it as you go to leave. Doing the search routine to find that missing item is not any fun but a requirement before you can get out the door. Trying to find my car keys when I need to be driving to work makes things stressful until I do. How great it would be if I could find them using an app on my smart phone. But, it needs to be able to show me where my keys are quickly. And that product is exactly what the Button TrackR is going to do for you.
The Button TrackR is a small round disk, no larger than the size of a quarter with a very simple purpose. Once is it attached to something you want to keep track of, paired with the smart phone app you download and that is it. And you can track up to 10 Button TrackR disks. All of it via Bluetooth. There are limitations on distance for this as it will only work within 100 feet of the disk. And this is not GPS so it is not going to pin point the exact location for you.
But, it does show you distance from the disk you are looking for. It is the old getting warmer or colder from childhood games. As you get closer, the distance value decreases letting you know you are moving in the right direction. So, what if the item you are searching for with the Button TrackR attached is more than 100 feet. What if you are more than 100 feet away or even miles away? They are going to use crowd sourcing so that other smart phones with the app which are within 100 feet of your disk will transmit that information to the Button TrackR servers and send you an email. In that email, it will show you the GPS location.
While the round disks do not have the ability to transmit their GPS location, your smart phone will track the last known location for the Button TrackR. So, if it has not moved since you set it down, such as your keys, then it will be quickly found. This all sound great. Now for a downside item. As with so many other items, this is designed to work on iOS devices. The only Android devices that it will work with when released is the Samsung Galaxy S3/S4 and the Samsung Galaxy Note 2. We have to assume they will be adding this functionality to all Android devices. If not, the crowd sourcing feature will not be as valuable.
One of the things which makes Button TrackR so interesting is the amount of funding they are raising and they still have 17 days to go. With a goal of $15,000, they have raised over $239,000 which gives you an idea of just how great the Button TrackR is going to become. You can still jump in and contribute to the Button TrackR funding and even get something in return. For $25, you will receive 1 Button TrackR, at $40 you will get 2 and the higher the money, the more the Button TrackR devices you can get. All of this is going to be shipping in August this year.
