Impact Of The Internet On Education

If you have been involved in technology for more than 10 or 15 years, you have seen the impact on society because of the Internet. The smart phones and tablets of today were but a dream back in the 1990's. And it was in the late 90's where things began to make an impact on how education would be proceeding. The idea of using technology to educate was beginning to take hold with desktop computers in just about every level of education. In the last 10 years, teachers have had to make adjustments to how they teach because of the Internet and Technology. And much of that is because their students are often much more knowledgeable than they are.

We ran across a Infographic showing the impact of technology, specifically the Internet, on education. The rise in online courses over the last 10 years shows where we are headed. MIT and Stanford are offering free online courses now. When students have to do research, the first place they go to get information is the web, using search engines such as Yahoo or Google. And as many of us know, this is accelerating as well and we will see even more of a shift over the next 5 years.

There are even some private high schools which are conducted over the Internet. Take a look at this Infographic to see the impact on Education.
