Personal 3D Printer Coming With Fabrication Capabilities - FABtotum

FabtotumThe idea of 3D printers has been one of great interest primarily for its ability to create things of real world items. There are the news items where someone s creating a gun with a 3D printer, but that is not what we are interested in. The idea of having something where you can create a digital display of the item and then create it is a fascinating concept bringing the future to us much sooner than expected. But, with the sky high prices for 3D printers, it has been way out of reach for most of us. That looks to be changing as there is one making its way to market which is going to be at the $1,000 price barrier.

The FABtotum personal fabricator is currently raising funds on Indiegogo and they have surpassed their goal by double with 35 days still to go. And you can participate in this as well. What makes this of great interest is that it is a 3D printer. And it is a fabrication machine where you can mill items as though you were a manufacturer. You get both of these in a single box.

Coming in at 14 inches square, the FABtotum will easily fit on your desk. And in that small size, you can produce items up to 8.3 by 9.5 by 9.5 inches in size making this a pretty great item to have. So, you get a 3D printer and a fabrication machine (CNC) which makes this a pretty good deal. But, you also get a 3D scanner. Three items in a small compact box make this one something which could be a must have.

If you are interested in getting a 3D printer which puts the power of creating your own items from the digital world into the real world, then the FABtotum is for you. You can get one by contributing $999 for a DIY kit which you assemble. For another $100, you can get one assembled and ready to plug into your computer. These are estimated to be shipped in May 2014 and seems to be a great deal given prices for other 3D printers.
