Having a keyboard when you travel is big deal for mobile phones.
If you travel a lot and use your smartphone to record information as to what is going on, you long for a good keyboard to work with which will not take up much space. There are a number of Bluetooth keyboards available, but some are just to big to be portable. You need one that can fold up and fit into a pocket. I looked back at some from back in the days of Palm and found there were many which folded up to fit into a jacket pocket. And when pulled out, worked great on a plane or at the table when eating breakfast. Now, there is a flexible one called the myType which fills that need.
This weeks KickStarter project is the myType Pocketable Bluetooth keyboard which can be used with your mobile devices which support Bluetooth 3.0. When folded in half, the keys which stick up are interlocked inside of each other taking up 6.8 by 3.6 inches and only 0.35 inches thick. Unfolded, it takes up 12.5 by 3.6 inches and is only 0.3 inches thick. It is made of silicone rubber making it lightweight and water proof. The battery life is supposed to last up to 8 hours which make it great for business people who travel light and need to quickly communicate with the office. And you can charge it up with a micro USB cable when in need of more power.
Given the silicon material of the myType, you are not going to hear much noise from it when it is being typed on. While some of the colors might be distracting in green black, white, blue or pink, it will be one that many want to have given its small size. While they have raised over $149,000 of their $10,000 goal, it is not too late to jump in and pre-order one. The myType KickStarter campaign ended on August 1st.
Like so many other projects with estimated dates, the myType was supposed to ship in August, but that has not happened. That gives you the opportunity to pre-order your own myType pocketable keyboard. Or you can go out to bitemyapple.co and order one for $59.99. They are showing an October shipping date for the myType which is probably pretty accurate. The myType looks like a great addition to your travel kit for your mobile devices to help make you productive.
